Blank Boring

Tired of sanding and sanding to get your bore in acrylic ready to be polished?  Let us bore them for you.  We can bore your blanks of Cast Acrylic, Delrin/Acetal, Aluminum, Brass, and other plastic materials for you and save you time sanding and polishing the inside bore.  We can bore most materials used for call making for you on CNC machines using proven tooling, techniques and setup for a great finish right off the machine.  We do not currently bore any "dust creating" materials such as wood, micarta, etc.

Setup fees: Generally $10.00 - $20.00 - one time fee per specific blank.

Pricing is somewhat dependent on the material and the bore dimensions and is machining cost only, material is not included.  If you are requesting your blanks bored with dimensions that are not listed below, please contact us for a quote specific to your needs.  The following list contains pricing for the more common materials and bore dimensions so you can get an approximate idea of pricing.

Minimum Quantity: THREE 4' sticks or 12-feet of rod total (Sticks that are less than 4-foot will have a slight upcharge).  Individual pre-cut blanks can be bored, but will incur an additional charge per part (they will be notably more expensive because of the process required - expect more than double per part cost) and is typically more expensive than it is worth.  

It is not possible to "mix and match" different parts on a single stick of material or batch of pre-cut blanks without additional charges for setup changes, programming, and additional time to run the parts (expect it to be exceptionally expensive - CNC does not lend itself well to onesy-twosey stuff... large volume is what makes it affordable).

Adding back bores or "flare" to a part or custom tapers or features to a bore will likely incur a setup fee for programming the bore profile.

Blanks are generally cut ≈ 0.020" longer than dimension required to allow for clean-up/facing of the blanks while turning. Acetal/Delrin costs more due to the material stringing up and requiring constant supervision.
